We decide to stay at home, Doctors told us to prepare for the worst. Got called back to the hospital because Rhys was very ill, when we got there he had been resusatated after being out for 40mins, We thought we'd lost him. |

After being called in again at 12.30am because Rhys needed a drain put in his right side the nurses recommended we have the boys Christened because we came so close to losing one of them. They were both Christened at 4pm that day. |

We thought we were having a good day, we had been told we could bath the boys but when we went in to do it Connors vent needed changing. He didn't like it his heart rate dropped but didn't stop. Tube was put in and he settled ok. Then Rhys's gases went terrible, he was retaining to much salt, doctors changed some fluids and he stabilised. |

Doctors told us today the biopsies had found no muscle at all which meant the boys future was very bleak. Didn't know what to think, we were warned that they probably wouldn't survive many more tube changes, my biggest fear was losing one and then the other a week or two later if they were going to leave us they needed to be together. We started to worry about how much pain and suffering our boys were going through to spend this precious time with us? |

We had to say Goodbye. When we went in the evening Connor needed a tube change, doctors were called to stand by, when everything was arranged Rhys's pressures dropped and he needed one to. Never since they were born had they needed it on the same days let alone at the same time, This was our sign We could see they were tired and the time had come the decision was made for us. It was beautiful yet heartbreaking holding them together for the first and last time. They both fell asleep in mums arms at 10.31pm after over an hour of talking, singing and cuddling with their proud parents. They left together as silently as they entered this world but with bonds so strong never to be broken with so many family and friends.xx |
